The solutions you have to date to turn your home into a "smart home", ie a home that will offer comfort, security and at the same time energy management, require you to install internal wiring and a lot of money on appliances, controllers, and microswitches. No one has thought until today that you can electronically gain control over your lighting, but also into other systems of your home, simply by changing the light switches.

Η Brilliant suggests that you change your room's classical lighting switches and put in place mini smart hubs with 5 inch touch screen LCD screen, Wi-Fi, motion-sensing and voice-controlled. These switches, except that they can turn the lights on or off, can also act as a control panel for having you connected to your home, bringing you security, music, lighting and communication all under one control.

Unlike more sophisticated connected "smart home" home systems, Brilliant manufacturers claim that replacing a light switch does not require new cables and only takes about five minutes. Then you can simply swipe up and down on the touch screen to turn them on or off, or you can find the exact brightness you want through dimming.

The Brilliant Control switches also include a camera and a microphone, and thus provide video intercom between multiple units. The monitors can have a personalized background that matches the room decor, and not just a white switch.

They can connect to Sonos, Nest, Phillips Hue, SmartThings, Ring and other notable "smart home" systems. The Brilliant central system could simplify the management of a connected home without having to install a bunch of separate applications on your smartphone.

The Brilliant Control switches are scheduled to come to the stores at the end of this year, with the first 10.000 pre-set units released at the end of the summer.
