BSOD with UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR message on supported processors

Microsoft is reportedly looking into an issue that several users are experiencing after the latest Windows 11 and Windows 10 updates.

Despite running their systems on supported CPUs, the problem results in an error where the computer crashes with a blue screen of death (BSOD) with a message that says: “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR”. (Microsoft recently updated the Intel and AMD processor support list.)

error

The company doesn't seem to know right now if this is a Windows problem or if the root cause could be something else. So it requests more information from users through the Feedback Hub application.

The company he says:

Microsoft has received reports of an issue where users receive an “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR” error message on a blue screen after installing updates released on August 22, 2023 (KB5029331) [and KB5029351] and then they have to reboot their device. KB5029331 can be uninstalled automatically to allow Windows to start as expected.

In the Feedback Hub, it seems that MSI motherboards, mainly from Intel's 600 series (Z690) and 700 series (Z790), are the ones most affected, although it is possible that the problem exists on other OEM motherboards as well.

In case you have a chip from another manufacturer, such as Asus, Gigabyte or ASRock, among others, and you encounter this error, Microsoft would probably appreciate your feedback.
