CachyOS tops Distrowatch's list

CachyOS is a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. It focuses on speed and security optimizations.

The default Linux kernel is heavily optimized using the BORE (Burst-Oriented Response Enhancer) scheduler, while the packages are compiled with LTO, x86-64-v3, and x86-64-v4.

See more articles from iGuRu.gr when you search for news on Google.

It features Zen 4 optimization, security flags, and various other performance improvements.

Available desktop environments and window managers include KDE, GNOME, Xfce, i3wm, Wayfire, LXQt, OpenBox, Cinnamon, COSMIC, UKUI, LXDE, MATE, Budgie, Qtile, Hyprland, and Sway.

CachyOS has a graphical installer as well as a command line installer. It provides a Firefox-based browser (called Cachy-Browser) with some security improvements and performance optimizations.

CachyOS is yet another attempt to make Arch Linux accessible to all users. CachyOS may be new to the market, but there are already a few distributions like Manjaro and EndeavorOS with the same goal.

For those new to Linux, the first two steps you should take are to go directly to apps/tweaks from the welcome screen and install the applications you need.

The applications/tweak section offers tweaks such as enabling profile-sync-daemon, enabling system-oomd, enabling bpftune, and enabling Bluetooth.

The Fixes section includes options such as system update, reinstall all packages, refresh keys, remove database key, clear package cache, remove orphaned packages, install games, install Snapper support, ranking mirrors, change DNS server, and install SpoofDPI.

I decided to write about the distribution, as it has recently managed to find itself at the top of the Distrowatch list.

They'll probably do something right...
