The CentOS distribution is the community proposal of a distribution with character Enterprise. CentOS 7 like any other version of the distribution is completely source based code of Red Hat Enterprise and is aimed at those who are interested in running a RedHat Enterprise compatible distribution but do not need the support that Red Hat offers.
The distribution is LTS, which is supported for many years, making it ideal for a server environment or for those who want a stable and reliable operating environment.
So today, Karanbir Singh announced the launch of CentOS 7.3 1611. The new version comes from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 and offers several new features such as SHA2 support in OpenLDAP, Bluetooth LE, and a preview of Btrfs technology.
“With release 1503 CentOS-7 can report errorthem directly at bugs.centos.org. You can find information about this feature on this page. Various new packages include but are not limited to:
python-gssapi, python-netifaces, mod_auth_openidc, pidgin and Qt5. Support for 7th generation i3, i5, and i7 Intel 2th generation I6C processors.”
Various packages have been updated. Some of them are: amba, squid, systemd, krb5, gcc-libraries, binutils, gfs-utils, libreoffice, GIMP, SELinux, firewalld, libreswan, tomcat and open-vm-tools
