The developer and maintainer of the project centos Johnny Hughes announced the availability of a new major security update of the Linux kernel for the 7-series of CentOS operating systems.
The CentOS 7 operating system is derived and freely distributed from the source code of the commercial series of the operating system Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which means that it benefits from its security code.
According to the recent RHSA-2017: 0086-1 security advisory, which was marked as important, three have been fixed vulnerabilities.
Two of these security blanks are characterized as moderate and one important. For anyone interested in learning above, vulnerabilities are documented by codes CVE-2016-7117, CVE-2016-6828 and CVE-2016-9555.
To mitigate the risks, it is recommended that you install the new kernel-3.10.0-514.6.1.el7.x86_64 from the official repositories as soon as possible.
A regular update of your system will take care of this, but do not forget to restart your machine to work with the new kernel.
Below is the terminal screen you will see after updating your system if you choose to do it from the command line.
