CentOS 8: The CentOS project, is an 100% compatible Red Hat Enterprise Linux upgrade, fully compliant with Red Hat redistribution requirements. Yesterday noon we have released the release of installation ISO before the official release.
So last night, the developers of the CentOS project released the long-awaited new release: the CentOS 8.0.1905 release is here.
The new release is based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0 source code, and comes in two major versions depending on your needs: CentOS Linux and CentOS Steam.
The announcement states:
Now there are two ways to use the CentOS platform, CentOS Linux and CentOS Stream.
CentOS Linux is a rebuild of the freely available Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) resources. CentOS Stream is a distribution intermediary that provides a route to participate in the creation of the next version of RHEL
Both versions are available in offline installation ISO and net-install (boot).

CentOS Stream is a rolling distribution that acts as a middle ground between Fedora's cutting edge packages and fixed, long-term Red Hat Enterprise Linux packages.
