The Chinese government has banned the use of security products by companies Symantec and Kaspersky for national security and the public interest.
Currently, five approved security software brands are all listed in the government procurement list, all from China. These include Qihoo 360 Technology, Venustech, CAJinchen, Beijing Jiangmin, and Rising.
The announcement came from the newspaper People's Daily.
In May, a member of the China Information Office informed that they would launch a survey of the main products used by government bodies for national and public security.
Όπως φαίνεται η αξιολόγηση έχει ολοκληρωθεί και οδήγησε στην απαγόρευση ξένης technologyς που θα μπορούσε να χρησιμοποιηθεί για την protection of the public administration.
All of this, of course, began after the revelations of Edward Snowden about the US National Security Agency's mass surveillance program, PRISM.
However, all this is also an effort by the Chinese government to promote domestic IT products. The paper also reports that, currently, the only foreign operating system brand still on China's supplier list is Microsoft, although a notice was issued in May to ban Windows 8.
It seems that China believes that Microsoft, Apple, Symantec and Cisco are important NSA partners to collect information.
As for Kaspersky, a representative of it companyς (Alejandro Arango)
