Google Chrome continues to be the number one browser globally, but despite being the preferred choice for the majority of users, this does not necessarily mean that there is no turbulence.
Live proof is browser performance in August of 2017 as well Google Chrome fell for the first time in many months, from 59,57% last month to 59,38%.
The fall in market share does not seem to be significant, but it stops Google Chrome from reaching the 60 percent, which seemed to catch up. In October of 2016, Google Chrome was at 54,99% of desktops, and 2017 by August we saw a significant increase in adopting Google's browser.

Firefox lost a market share of one 0,04 percent of the 12,28 percent it held last month.
At the same time, Microsoft's Edge browser, which is exclusively available on Windows 10, it managed to increase its share by just 0,01 percent to finally reach 5,66 percent as the app still tries to convince users not to use Google's browser.
So if both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox dropped in the last month while Edge noticed a very small upward trend, where did all those looking for a different browser go?
Safari was the browser which saw the biggest increase in adoption rate last month, rising from 3,66% to 3,87%. This means that the trend of switching from Windows to macOS is increasing (?), with many users deciding to use the Apple browser offered by default in the company's operating system.
It remains to be seen whether this trend will be maintained in the coming months. If it does, Microsoft has serious reasons to worry, as users seem to prefer Apple despite the arrival of new versions of Windows 10.
