Ο Mozilla ανήγγειλε στους Developers ότι έρχονται σημαντικές αλλαγές όσον αφορά τις επεκτάσεις δηλαδή τα γνωστά σε όλους (Add-ons) του Firefox.
Η σημαντικότερη αλλαγή ξεκινάει με την υιοθέτηση ενός νέου API creationof extensions which will be largely compatible with that of Blink-based browsers such as Chrome and Opera.
This WebExtensions API will enable Chrome Extensions Creators to convert the extension to run on Firefox with some minor changes to the code.
Also, from version 42 of Firefox, Developers for releasing extensions will have to get a digital signature and approval after a review by Mozilla people which will take some time (from weeks to months).
Finally, we're anxiously awaiting Firefox tabs to become separate processes, something we'll see in version 43 and which Chrome already uses. (when one tab crashes, it doesn't drop all of it browser..)
