Google Chrome will support Windows 7 until at least July 2021

Microsoft will end support for its Windows 7 operating system next week on January 14, 2020. On that day, the company will provide users with one last round of security updates, after which support will end.

Windows 7

Businesses and business customers alike can extend support for up to three years, but they will have to pay Microsoft for that. It's called Extended Security Update Windows 7 (ESU) and allows organizations to extend support and continue to use the operating system for up to three years.

Windows 7 will definitely continue to run on computers, although no official security updates will be provided. Unofficially, the company 0Patch has revealed plans to release unofficial security updates for Windows 7.

As for third-party software, history has shown that support does not expire at the same time as the official expiration of operating system support. We saw it when support for Windows XP ended. Google supported the operating system until April 2016, although Microsoft stopped supporting it in 2014. Other companies, such as Mozilla, Valve, Dropbox, and others, continued to support the old operating system for some time. after the end of official support.

Now that Windows 7 is nearing the end of its support, the situation is more or less similar to that of Windows XP. Windows 7 is loved by many and is still used in many home and business devices.

So, Google posted information on the official Chrome Enterprise blog yesterday about her plans on Windows 7. The company has revealed that Google Chrome will continue to support Windows 7 at least until July 15, 2021.

We will continue to fully support Chrome on Windows 7 for at least 18 months from the date of its expiration by Microsoft until at least July 15, 2021.

Chrome users can continue to use the web browser on Windows 7 devices, as the browser will receive the same updates as other versions of the Windows operating system.

Mozilla has not yet revealed its plans, but the organization has a good track record of supporting Windows releases for a long time after the official support is completed. Firefox users can also choose to switch to Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release), as it will likely be the version that will support Windows 7 for most of the time.
