The Greek Police Department of Electronic Crime Prosecution has been the subject of a regular procedure file, which involved the installation of special software on credit card terminals operating at a car rental store. The result was the deceptive debit of the company's bank business cards.
In particular, as it emerged in June of 2015, an electronic trading company piloted four credit card charging terminals of the car rental company special software, which allowed the parallel connection of the computer terminals of the company.
The digital survey found that this special software was charging another cardholder than the one to be charged, despite the fact that the debtor's credit card had been placed at the billing terminal.
Deceptive charges were found by customers of the car rental company. In addition, a survey of all transactions made it clear that 186 was a total of fraudulent transactions to customers of the car rental company whose value amounted to hundreds of thousands of euros.
This online and digital traffic of digital data is being investigated by specialized Officers of the Electronic Crime Prosecution and Criminal Laboratories to identify any parties involved in this networking and to identify any criminal responsibility for this fraud.
The financial loss of the aforementioned customers will be restored in accordance with a commitment of the electronic trading company after its final identification.
