Δύο Ολλανδοί χρήστες της πλατφόρμας του bitTorrent καταδικάστηκαν για παράνομη διανομή περιεχομένου χωρίς να κατέχουν πνευματικά δικαιώματα. Οι κατηγορούμενοι δεν φαίνεται να τα έχασαν, και χρησιμοποιούν through crowdfunding sites to be able to pay their fines.
The two users were reported by BREIN, a Dutch company organization for copyright protection. Both users managed to reach an out-of-court settlement with BREIN after agreeing to stop sending new torrents, post discouraging messages on their profiles, Kickass Torrents and Pirate Bay, and pay a small fine for their actions.
So DisasterZany, a user of Kickass Torrents, agreed to pay 1.750 dollars while ipod020, a user of Kickass Torrents and Pirate Bay, agreed to pay 2120 dollars.
According to a post posted by another user on Kickass Torrents, both pirates set up crowdfunding campaigns on the Dutch webσελίδα Dream or Donate.
Up to now, the DisasterZany has managed to raise 363 euros from 36 donations, while the ipod020 has 688 from 58 donations.
Both users are said to be students without income.
The Dutch website with news technologyTweakers reports that the representatives of BREIN are unhappy with the two pirates, mainly because in their way they do not prevent other uploaders, since they know that they can easily cover the fines, with crowdfunding campaigns.
