DCRS Wireless Charging System for Electrical Appliances

KAIST researchers Institute of Science and Technology) developed the DCRS a wireless charging system that is able to charge up to 40 smartphones at the same time, at a distance of 5 meters.

DCRS

The system is called DCRS (Dipole Coil Resonant ) and for its operation it uses magnetic fields that carry electricity. KAIST's system is based on CMRS (Coupled Resonance System) first introduced by MIT in 2007.

However, the Dipole Coil Resonant System created by the Koreans, incorporates a series of elements that allow the commercial exploitation of the system, unlike the earlier CMRS.

Key points of differentiation and improvement are the complex structure of the coil that requires four coils, the overall size and the more efficient energy transfer.

The structure of its spirals Dipole Coil Resonant System consists of two magnetic bipolar coils. The primary coil causes the magnetic field and the secondary coil receives the electrical energy.

The system is compact in size and scalable can achieve power output of up to 209 Watts in 20 kHz.

Although similar systems have been developed by other researchers, even with a greater range, the KAIST system is still the only one that manages to charge as many at the same time.

In fact, its creators believe that their system has enough power to be able to charge even larger devices such as televisions and computers.
