After a year and 9 months of development, the Debian 12 (code name “bookworm”) was officially released on 10/06/2023 as the last major release of the distribution.
New Debian 12.2 runs Linux kernel 6.1.27 LTS, packages are built using GCC 12.2.0 compiler, LLVM/Clang 14 compiler is also availableAlong with an LLVM/Clang 15 option, PHP 8.2 comes as the default version. On the desktop, the releases are: GNOME 43.4, KDE Plasma 5.27.5, Xfce 4.18.1, LXDE 11 and MATE 1.26.
So last night the second minor was released information of version 12, i.e. version 12.2. The update mainly brings fixes for issues better safetys, along with a few tweaks for serious problems.
Note that the point release is not a new version of Debian 12 but updates some of the included packages.
After installation, packages can be upgraded to current versions using an updater mirror of Debian.
Those who frequently install updates from security.debian.org will not need to update many packages. Below you will find the ISOs you will only need for a new installation.
