Debian Project Developers announced this morning the availability of Debian GNU/Linux 9.3 and Debian GNU/Linux 8.10 on series Stretch and Jessie.
Debian GNU / Linux 9.3 is the third maintenance update of the Stretch series, the latest stable version of the operating system, and Debian GNU / Linux 8.10 represents the tenth edition of the Jessie series, which is the distribution of Debian before the 9 Stretch.
Both updates include the latest security releases distributed through official repositories.
“This point release mainly adds fixes to issues security, as well as some tweaks for serious issues. Security updates have already been published separately," reads today's announcement.
"Note that the point release is not a new version of Debian 9, but it does update some of the included packages."
Debian GNU / Linux 9.3 "Stretch" and Debian GNU / Linux 8.10 "Jessie" include many security updates and various bug fixes, but as of today, today's announcements refer to existing Debian GNU / Linux 9 Stretch and Debian 8 systems.
If you are already in Debian you do not have to download new ISO to update your installations.
Just open a terminal and run the command:
This will install all updates. New ISO images for Debian GΝU/Linux 9.3 “Stretch” and Debian GΝU / Linux 8.10 “Jessie” will be released in the near future, for those who want to perform a fresh installation and they don't want to download a bunch of updates after it's over.
Once the ISOs are released, we will publish them download links, as usual.
