The new version is called DEFT Zero and comes in the 2017.1 version. It is much more compact and light, but it brings some useful new features.

“The DEFT Zero 2.017.1 version ready for download. Finally I can announce that a fixed version of DEFT Zeros is available. The DEFT Zero is a light version specifically designed to perform digital evidence collection. Among the most important features are support for NVMExpress memory (MacBook 2015), eMMC and UEFI.

The new DEFT Zero version requires significantly less RAM and a CD-ROM or USB drive. It takes about 400 MB, with which it can even run in RAM on low hardware computers. Distribution is based on Lubuntu 14.04.02 LTS. ”
