The Device Freedom Prize, is an effort to reward the first developer to be able to write an open source jailbreak for iOS 7. This idea is now receiving donations. The initiative is very likely to accelerate the release of one untethered jailbreak iOS 7.
Future tools will be judged by Chris Maury (who proposed the award himself and is an open access advocate), Cory Doctorow (editor of Boing Boing, author and DMCA activist), the CEO of the well-known by clicking hereiFixit's Kyle Wiens and Biella Coleman (professor and author of Coding Freedom).
The organizers report that jailbreak should work in all its models iPhone (4S, 5, 5s, 5c) and support its latest version iOS (7.0.4). The jailbreak should be untethered and not create problems "for the average user."
So far, donors have promised around 10.000 dollars and donations are continuing.
