The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate informs the citizens - internet users about their attempted financial fraud

It is done through posts on alleged investments in cryptocurrencies and other investments from famous - internationally renowned persons

The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate has recently been reporting cases of international fraud involving alleged investments in cryptocurrencies and other investment products by celebrities of international renown (politicians, actors, singers, businessmen, etc.).

In particular, the fraud is manifested by posting false news, accompanied by similar audiovisual material, allegedly derived from the electronic publication of reputable newspapers and websites, in which the aforementioned persons are said to have invested in cryptocurrencies and other investment products while making a big profit.

Readers are then prompted to do the same by entering their personal data into the alleged ones investments whose ultimate purpose is their financial deception.

Following the above, the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate proposes to the citizens - internet users the following:

  • To n the validity of publications about investment schemes, even when they are shown to involve well-known people, as this aims to convince online users of the veracity of those shown.
  • Be especially careful when browsing the internet and especially when it comes to investing in very high and attractive returns.
  • Do not open e-mails or ads from people we do not know or expect.
  • To remain wary when approached by phone or e-mail by people from investment companies abroad and no longerwith our money on services without being absolutely sure of their reliability.
  • Have reservations if the offer seems too good to be true, as well as reservations if it is genuine. We think twice before we click. # ThinkB4UClick
