Authorities seized the servers and customer log files of DoubleVPN, a double-encryption service that usesare usually used by malicious users to avoid detection while performing malicious activities.
DoubleVPN was a Russian-based VPN service that duplicated encrypted data. If you were using the service, your requests would be encrypted and transmitted to a VPN server, which would send them to another, which was connected to the final destination.
The website doublevpn.com was seized today by the enforcement authorities of DoubleVPN and they managed to obtain personal data, logs and statistics for the customers of the service.
“On June 29, 2021, the police busted DoubleVPN. It gained access to DoubleVPN's servers and seized personal information, logs and statistics that DoubleVPN maintained for all its customers. The owners of DoubleVPN failed to provide the services that they promised," its website says doublevpn.com which is in the hands of the Authorities.
“International law enforcement continues to work collectively against the facilitators of cybercrime, wherever it is committed. The investigation into this network's customer data will continue." Europol has confirmed to BleepingComputer that the message is legitimate and will make more information available on her business later today.
