Dubai: From July flights with autonomous passenger drones

Yes they come by passenger ! If you are not yet in Dubai, this summer you could visit it. Starting in July, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates will allow the use of autonomous passenger drones. So the sky above the city is expected to be filled with taxi drones that will transport passengers.

The information comes from Mattar al-Tayer, chairman and executive director of the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), who announced his plan at the ongoing World Government summit.drone

He did not reveal any further details on whether the drones will be sold or available for rent but what we know is that this plan is part of Dubai's strategy to ease a quarter of all emirate travels, use of stand-alone vehicles until 2030.

To make this happen, the RTA is working with the Chinese Ehang which is said to have the world's first remote controlled passenger aircraft. The flying vehicle can travel distances of up to 30 miles on a single and can carry a person weighing up to 220 kg, as well as a small suitcase.

Flight is carried out by a ground-based command center.

Ehang introduced her first of her drone last January to CES and was approved for their test in Nevada in August of 2016. However, the 184 drone will not carry passengers to the US until it is approved by the Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FAA).

So, if you want to travel with an autonomous unmanned aircraft, you have to fly up to Dubai.
