Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots like ChatGPT have taken the world by storm since their launch a few years ago. Many are excited about them, while others are a little more wary, especially when it comes to privacy.
To protect their privacy, some users run models locally, but this uses too many resources and of course not everyone does.
For those of you who don't have a very powerful computer, the options remain limited to using artificial intelligence chatbots hosted by companies like OpenAI and Google.
One problem with these is that your data is not private. Companies can see what you say and, in some cases, use what you said to train their models.
If you can't host your own models on your computer and you're looking for privacy, then a good option is to take a look at DuckDuckGo's Duck.ai which self-promotion as a private artificial intelligence service.
Duck.ai gives you access to GPT-4o mini, Llama 3.3 70B, Claude 3 Haiku, o3-mini, and Mistral 8x7B.
To get started, you can open the page of Duck.ai. You don't need to log in to this service. All recent conversations are stored locally in your browser. When you first open the page, you will see an overview of the features and will have to accept the privacy policy.

According to the privacy policy, conversations are stored locally on your device instead of on remote servers.
In the settings, there is an option to completely disable saving recent conversations and delete existing ones.
If you choose to keep your chat history active, the device will automatically delete your chats once you reach the 30 limit.
