DuckDuckGo, informed her extension DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials for Chrome to block Google's new FLoC (Federated Learning of Cohorts) tracking method.
The DuckDuckGo add-on comes after Google launched the FLoC test, which chose Chrome users without the option to opt out unless they disable third-party cookies, which would be a problem on some sites.
The new FLoC blocking feature is included in version 2021.4.8 of the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension. THE company it said the extension is still awaiting Google's approval, but should come soon. If you already have the DuckDuckGo extension installed, it will be updated automatically, otherwise you can install it from the Chrome Web Store.
The upcoming FLoC technology tracks behavior by default without user consent. If Google insists on moving forward with FLoC technology, it should do so but by asking for it permission of users (without dark patterns). The DuckDuckGo extension has a single purpose: to provide holistic privacy protection to Chrome.
