Η DuckDuckGo a company with an "obsession" with privacy is preparing to release its own desktop browser. Needless to say, it will use advanced privacy controls for its users.
In an announcement that posted Recently, DuckDuckGo CEO Gabriel Weinberg explains that the purpose of the browser is to provide users with a very simple experience that does not involve complicated settings.
Focusing on privacy will obviously be a priority, and Weinberg says the company will try to follow the same approach it used on mobile devices.
"As we did on mobile, the DuckDuckGo desktop browser will redefine users' expectations for their daily privacy on the Internet. No complicated settings, no misleading warnings, no "levels" of privacy - just powerful privacy protection that works by default, in search, browsing, emails and more. "It's not going to be a 'privacy browser' but a day-to-day browsing app that respects your privacy because you want to stop companies from spying on your search and browsing history," he said.
As for the engine that will power the browser, Weinberg says that the DuckDuckGo browser will not use Chromium, but native performance engines that are available on every platform.
Theoretically, this would allow for improved performance and fewer compatibility issues.
Instead of going to Chromium or anything else, we build our PC app around the performance machines provided by the operating system (like mobile phones), allowing us to remove many of the unnecessary features and clutter that have accumulated over the years. in large browsers ”.
We do not know at this time when the new browser could be released, but the first tests have already begun. In fact, according to the company, the application seems to be much faster than Google Chrome.
