eBay continues to update them users of its services to change their passwords, given that the specific data is already in the "hands" of the hackers.
Fortunately, the passwords were encrypted and the company says there is no reason to believe hackers can break the encryption. Of course, whatever the company says, there is always the possibility of this happening.
According to Reuters, eBay has hired FireEye Inc.'s MANDIANT research company to investigate the issue.
