Microsoft executives said the new browser Edge Chromium-based will be available from January 15, 2020. Also in early November, they announced that the new Edge will be compatible with Windows 10 immediately after the availability date, though this will be phased out.
This week, the company will release more details about the upcoming release of Edge on Windows 10.
Chrome based version Edge will not follow the versions of Windows, as the company said. Microsoft will automatically release the new Edge through Windows Update for all computers already running Windows 10 1709 or higher.

The next version of Microsoft Edge will have more frequent and more flexible update capabilities. Because browser versions will not be bound to major versions of Windows, changes will be made to the operating system to ensure that the next version of Microsoft Edge fits seamlessly into Windows. Therefore, feature updates will be released in a 6-week cycle (approx.) Security and compatibility updates will be sent as needed.
Microsoft will also release a new Edge Blocker Toolkit for companies that wish to block the automatic development of the new Edge. (This Blocker Toolkit will also be able to run on Windows 10 Home systems by administrators.) Blocker Toolkit will not prevent manual installation of the new Chromium-based application.
Microsoft officially launched the new store for Microsoft Edge Addons for all developers on December 16th. So developers can submit the extensions they deploy through it Partner Center Developer Dashboard.
Chromium is an open source browser used by many browser developers, such as Google, Vivaldi, Opera, Yandex, Brave and many more. Along with the release of Chrome in 2008, Google released most of the Chrome code as open source, and Chromium was born.
