Ο Edward Snowden may not have been chosen as a Face of the Year by Time, but entered the list of World Researchers (Global Thinkers) of 2013 that the magazine wrote Foreign Policy.
The informant managed to send a formal statement, as he could not attend the reception in Washington on Wednesday.
"I am honored that you invited me to speak to you tonight. I apologize for my inability to attend in person, but I have problems passport. Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras are also unfortunately unable to accept their invitations. As it turns out, the disclosure of certain issues of reasonable concern in our day automatically puts us on another list besides that of Global Thinkers," Edward Snowden said with humor.
Edward thanked the Foreign Policy magazine, as many others have helped reveal the truth.
Snowden continues to live in Russia, where he has been offered temporary asylum.
The joke he made about his passport relates to the fact that the United States has canceled his passport, leaving him effectively locked in the transit zone of Sheremetyevo Airport in Russia, where he spent several weeks.
