The European proposes a new law requiring easily replaceable batteries (rechargeable batteries) in all new electronic . The same law also sets targets for the and recycling of these batteries, and requires 73% compliance by 2030.

The they will receive multiple notices, however, the requirement to comply will come into effect 3,5 years after the legislation comes into force. Companies will even be legally obliged to accept and recycle old batteries.

In addition, the European Commission is expected to consider putting to legislate the use of non-rechargeable portable batteries, although this will probably happen with many exceptions and not before the end of the decade.
