The Windows 11 taskbar has the “End task” function, but it is disabled by default and by extension hidden for most users. Here's how to activate it.
Microsoft has added a feature to Windows 11 that lets you end tasks directly from the taskbar. This is disabled by default so most people don't use it.
When the End Task feature is enabled, you can right-click an application icon on the taskbar and you will additionally see the End Task option.
Clicking on "end task" will close the specific application as if you did it through the Task Manager, but without opening the Task Manager.
This feature is useful when a program is unresponsive, won't even close with X, so you can quickly terminate it without many clicks.
The Quit Task feature has been available for a while now, but some of you may not be aware of it. To enable or disable it, follow these steps:
In Windows 11 open the Settings app and go to System > For Developers.
There find the command “End Task” and activate it. Reverse the process to turn it off.
