We have been hearing for some time that the new browser of Micorosft based on Chromium it will also be released for Linux computers at some point.
And Microsoft seems to mean it. We now know that Edge for Linux will finally be released and it is official.
It was initially announced on duration of the Ignite 2019 conference held in Orlando, USA, at the session “State of the Browser”(Approximately at 8.24). Microsoft has announced that Edge for Linux will be released sometime in 2020.
When exactly; No one knows, but a Linux port of Edge has been in the works since the company first released the stable browser for macOS and Windows 10 on January 15, 2020.
But during Build 2020, Microsoft introduced the Microsoft Edge browser running on a Linux system. This means that the company has not abandoned its plan and is still developing the Edge.
The screenshot below shows a desktop with Gnome 3 running the Edge browser properly.

At the Build 2020 conference, Microsoft once again stated that it was exploring Linux OS as a possible platform for the Edge, but again did not mention a release date.
With the release of Edge for Linux, Microsoft hopes that web developers who will use it in the project them without having to switch to Windows systems.
But the big question is: will anyone else use it?
