The collection of official statistics on Innovation in Greek enterprises is under way, with reference to the 2012-2014 three-year period. The research is being carried out for the second consecutive year by the National Documentation Center (EKT) in collaboration with the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
This is the Community Innovation Survey, which is being conducted in the same period in all EU countries, and aims to produce indicators on Innovation in Business.
Those businesses that are in the survey sample and have been invited to participate in the ECB are invited to fill in the survey questionnaire in a timely manner, thereby contributing to the credible recording and production of official statistical indicators in a critical area for our country's development.
The importance of Research for Innovation is great as it records the country's dynamics and the needs of Greek enterprises in the field of innovation. Indices are produced for the country's innovation rate, especially for the four types of innovation, product innovation, process innovation, organizational innovation and marketing innovation. In addition, innovative business activities, the introduction of new products into the business and the market, the role of the state sector in supporting innovation through government procurement, partnerships, environmental practices, strategies and barriers encountered by businesses for the development of innovations.
The results of the survey are sent to the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) with a view to their publication on the European Statistical Base and their exploitation in the creation of international publications and analyzes.
The ECT implements the production of official Innovation Statistics indicators for Greece following a decision by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology. The results of the survey for Greece are published by the ESF on the website http://metrics.ekt.gr/statistika-etak as well as special publications with sectoral and geographical analyzes.
Current research refers to the period of 2012 to 2014 and is carried out on a sample of 6.000 and more enterprises.
