ELAS Phishing alert

The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate informs citizens about attempts to intercept personal data through "phishing"

The latter is reported to the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate cases of attempted interception of personal data through electronic messages (emails) using "phishing" techniques.

Specifically, through emails, which are sent en masse to the citizens, with an emerging postal company providing postal services, unknown perpetrators attempt to steal personal data under the pretext of demanding payment of transportation and storage costs.

The emails contain links, which lead to websites where the login details for online accounts (email, social media, webbanking) and cards must be filled in. .

Then, once the recipient of the email fills in the requested information, the perpetrators use it to either obtain unauthorized to the victim's accounts, or to make unauthorized online transactions using the stolen card details.

It is pointed out that these emails need a lot of attention, as they are extremely plausible. Internet users who receive them are invited to:

  • do not select the suggested links,
  • do not reply to messages,
  • not enter and send personal data and credit card details,

as in no case are they true.
