The Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate informs citizens about efforts undertheftς data of a personal nature through "phishing"
The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate has recently reported cases of attempted interception of personal data, via emails using "phishing" techniques.
Specifically, through emails, which are sent en masse to the citizens, with an emerging postal company providing postal services, unknown perpetrators attempt to steal personal data under the pretext of demanding payment of transportation and storage costs.
The emails contain links, which lead to websites where the login details must be filled in online accounts (email, social media, webbanking) but also payment cards.
Then, if the recipient of the email fills in the required information, the perpetrators use it either to gain unauthorized access to the victim's accounts, or to conduct unauthorized electronic transactions, using the intercepted card details.
It is pointed out that these emails need a lot of attention, as they are extremely plausible. Internet users who receive them are invited to:
- do not select the suggested links,
- do not reply to messages,
- not enter and send personal data and credit card details,
as in no case are they true.
