Greek channels consider streaming a bubble

In an earlier publication we had mentioned that the plans to fight password sharing.

In the latest earnings announcement for the first quarter of 2022 to shareholders (pdf), the company states why.

streaming

The company announced that it lost around 200.000 subscribers in the first quarter, which is said to be the first negative number recorded since 2011.

In fact, the company's forecasts are not optimistic as it expects to lose another 2 million subscribers in the current quarter (second quarter of 2022.

This is the news. This post, however, is not about the difficulties Netflix faces, but about how some "news" channels "read" the event.

Of course, the expectation of a "bubble burst" would be ideal for TV channels that get rich, hypnotizing the masses. But streaming came to stay. Especially if you think about the much faster connections that exist today compared to the dark times of 2000.

No gentlemen, unfortunately for you, streaming is not a bubble.

Here we should mention that the that support each streaming platform are huge, and listed on the Stock Exchange.
The infrastructure that supports these platforms costs billions, and can not be bubbles, despite the business expectations of the Greek market.
To cite an example of a new technology that has many rivals: the bittorrent platform.

It is a protocol for transferring data over the internet. It offers a reliable solution for transferring very large files, such as audio files or , turning each user's computer into a redistribution point.

BitTorrent was written by developer Bram Cohen in Python and made in 2001. So since 2001 there are too many who do not want it and are trying in every way to beat it. It was a bubble that never burst…

The fact shows us more that in Greece there are still individuals-companies that while they have gone online, are digitally illiterate. Recall that phobia in the young was very strongly observed in the Middle Ages.

The problem, however, is when you begin to convey this phobia to your viewers or readers.
