Elon Musk the crashed Tesla did not have an Autopilot

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says Autopilot was not activated in Tesla fatal crash which took place in Houston on Saturday.

“The logs "Recoveries so far show that Autopilot was not activated," Musk said Monday afternoon.

The vehicle was dismantled, so it is not known if the data was intact. However, Tesla vehicles are connected online and this 2019 S model may have wirelessly transmitted some key data to Tesla servers seconds after the crash.

At the same tweet, Musk also mentioned that the vehicle's owner "didn't buy FSD." FSD is short for "full self-driving". However, the current FSD beta still requires active driver supervision.

The police meanwhile are "almost 99,9% sureThat Tesla had no one behind the wheel before the accident.

Musk added that "the typical autopilot would require lanes that this road did not have."

Some have disputed this claim and a Tesla owner posted a video on Sunday showing that he was able to activate Autopilot on a small road with no markings. In fact, as his car approached a sharp bend, he did not appear to turn or slow down before the .
