EndeavourOS, a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux and developed in the Netherlands.
The distribution is a direct descendant of Antergos , which was released in 2012. In May 2019, Antergos announced that it was shutting down the distribution “due to some issues within the team,” and some of its former core contributors launched EndeavourOS the following month. Since then, EndeavourOS has been downloaded nearly half a million times and has a thriving global community.
One of the main advantages of EndeavourOS is the choice between offline and online installation. Using its own fork of the Calamares installer in both cases, the offline option only provides the KDE Plasma desktop by default, while the online installation option allows you to choose from GNOME, KDE Plasma, Xfce, Cinnamon, MATE, LXQt, Budgie, Deepin, and the i3 window manager.
The minimum specifications for EndeavourOS:
64-bit Intel or AMD dual-core processor, 2–4 GB RAM (2 GB for lightweight desktop environments like Xfce, LXQt, and i3; 4 GB recommended for heavier environments like GNOME, KDE, or Budgie), and 15 GB of free disk space.
As with all Arch-based systems, the software runs extremely fast and almost effortlessly.
New Linux users should know that the EndeavourOS community is very helpful and considerate, making the forums a valuable resource for newcomers. Additionally, the EndeavourOS knowledge base, Discovery , offers a wealth of articles and video tutorials to help you in your quest to customize your system.
EndeavourOS is for everyone and everything. With Arch running in the background, it is aimed at both new and experienced Linux fans.
