Update blocked Asus PCs to Windows 11 24H2

A few days ago, Microsoft lifted the upgrade block for the 2024 feature update for Windows 11, (version 24H2) that was in place due to issues with Auto HDR.

Microsoft then confirmed that another such issue has been resolved. In October last year, the company had blocked Windows 11 24H2 on some Asus computers. These systems were displaying a blue screen of death (BSOD) error when trying to perform the upgrade.

Microsoft has stated that the upgrade block is still in effect, but assures that it will be lifted slowly but steadily.

A new update is being pushed out by Microsoft via a BIOS update to affected Asus laptop models (X415KA and X515KA).

The company displays this specific problem as Resolved since yesterday 2025-02-14

Microsoft explains:

This issue has been resolved with a BIOS update provided by ASUS. ASUS X415KA and X515KA models with BIOS version lower than 311 should install the latest BIOS update to remove the upgrade block and proceed with the Windows 11, version 24H2 upgrade. The BIOS update is categorized as a Critical Update (CU) and is available through Windows Update.

While the upgrade block remains in effect, it will be gradually lifted as more devices receive the update. Users are advised to check for updates in Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates to ensure compatibility with Windows 11, version 24H2.
