Η ιαπωνική εταιρεία παραγωγής εκτυπωτών Epson ανακοίνωσε ότι will terminate the sale and distribution εκτυπωτών laser έως το 2026, επικαλούμενη ζητήματα βιωσιμότητας.
According to the company, inkjet printers have "better capabilities" than lasers when it comes to the environment. The company has already stopped selling laser printers in many markets, but continues to sell them in Asia and Europe. But even though it will stop distributing laser printers, Epson said it will continue to support consumers with consumables and spare parts.
"As a company we are fully committed to sustainable innovation and action, and inkjet printers simply use less energy and fewer consumable parts," Epson sales and marketing director Koichi Kubota explained in a canned statement.
"While laser printers work by heating toner to get it onto a page, Epson's inkjet technology works without heat and uses less electricity by using mechanics to eject ink onto the page."
