In two of the three key parts of the test - Usability and Performance - all three solutions scored the best possible score. In the third part, which concerned Protection, which is undoubtedly the most critical point, the ESET Endpoint Security application for Android was the only one that managed to detect 100% of the 3.100 samples.
"This test proves that ESET Endpoint security for Android is the right security solution for mobile devices used in corporate networks," said Kropáč.
The test for corporate security applications for Android differs in two respects from that for consumer applications.
First, the sample collection reflects the corporate usage data of Android devices. For example, instead of "infected" gaming applications, the test sample collection contains threats targeting corporate users. The applications for the corporate version of the test were downloaded exclusively from Google Play, the official store for downloading Android applications. This eliminates the need to adapt protection to cover types of threats that a corporate user will rarely face.
Second, it examines how easily this particular security solution is manageable.
In addition, the design of the performance test has been slightly modified so that the new test assesses the impact it has on web page loading, document reading, or web traffic.
Testing for corporate Android apps was something that should have been done a long time ago, according to Kropáč. "Today, corporate internal systems tend to be accessible from mobile devices. In addition, these devices are often used for personal purposes. This means that the need for reliable corporate security solutions for mobile devices is immediate. And where there is a need for reliability, there is also a need for independent testing. "
