The European Parliament has excluded the US from the global financial database

europeanThe European Parliament took a very big step against US espionage as they voted to of their access to the global financial database maintained by a Belgian company.

Η this decision came when it was revealed by Globe of Brazil that the US is secretly watching SWIFT ( for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication), one which allows financial institutions from all over the world to send and receive about financial transactions in a "secure" environment.

However, when it was revealed that the NSA spied on Petrobras Google and SWIFT, it caused a global turmoil.

The European Parliament voted with 280 for and 254 against, while 30 abstained. Members of Parliament demand full transparency, especially with the current situation after the revelations about NSA actions.
However, the voting numbers (254 v) show how strong the US government is in the European Parliament.
