European email providers

While Europe is rushing to become independent from Trump's America, we thought it would be a good idea to gather European email providers in one post. In case you know of any worthy ones that aren't on our list, add them in the comments and we'll include them.

An email provider provides its users with an email address and corresponding mailboxes. Most email providers also provide a webmail interface where the user can read and send emails from the browser.

Below we will see services from companies based in a member state of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

mailbox An email provider from Germany. Offers webmail, calendar (CalDav), contacts (CardDav).

Posteo is an ad-free email service that focuses on security. They offer webmail, calendar (CalDav), contacts (CardDav). You cannot use the service on your own domain.

Soverin An email provider from the Netherlands that focuses on security, privacy, and custom domains. Soverin provides email only to your own domains.

Proton Mail is an encrypted email provider with end-to-end encryption, from Switzerland.

Tuta Mail is an email provider from Germany that focuses on security and privacy. In addition to email, they offer calendar and contact management. The best feature of Tuta is that all data (mails, calendar and contacts) is end-to-end encrypted.

eclipso An email provider from Germany. In addition to file storage, they offer calendar and account management with CalDAV and CardDAV. For companies, they have a fax service. The servers are located in Germany.

kMail An email provider from Switzerland from Swiss cloud provider Infomaniak . kMail is part of kSuite, a bundle of services from Infomaniak that includes calendar, address book, file storage drive and meeting tools. Infomaniak is also a domain registrar. So if you want your own domain with your own email you can use the platform.

Hostpoint An email provider from Switzerland and the Swiss cloud provider Hostpoint. The web interface they use is based on Open-Xchange.

Combell An email provider from cloud provider Combell based in Belgium. It provides mailbox only, or if you need some extra tools like Microsoft 365 office.

Runbox An email provider from Norway with a strong focus on privacy and sustainability. The company behind Runbox is majority owned by employees and board members.

mail.de An email provider from Germany, with servers in Germany. In addition to email, it offers calendar, address book and online storage with CalDAV, CardDAV and WebDAV. For companies and individuals.

Seeweb Mail An email provider from Italy and the Italian cloud provider Seeweb.

Raidboxes Emails is an email provider from the German WordPress hoster Raidboxes.

Migadu An email provider from Switzerland (charges you based on usage and not by the month of emails sent, storage, etc.).

mailfence A privacy-focused email provider from Belgium. In addition to emails, it offers calendars, contacts, and files. Mailfence supports organizations that support digital rights with its revenue.

Kolab Now An email provider from Switzerland. It is open-source with a focus on security. They use only open standards for file storage and communications, cutting out any vendor lock-in. Kolab Now services are fully end-to-end encrypted. Their service is primarily email, but they also provide calendar, contacts, notes, and file storage services.

Mailo An email provider from France. Offers webmail, calendar (including CalDav) and contacts (including CardDav).

WEB.DE An email provider from Germany for the German market (German speakers)

GMX An email provider from Germany for the German market (German speakers).

Inbox.eu An email provider from Latvia, it also offers calendar and contacts management.
