After the shutdown of several top torrent sites such as machine search Torrentz, Kickass Torrents and the torrent hound, it's ExtraTorrent's turn. Recent publications state that the website has lost control of several domains while rumors are spreading that they want the tracker shut down.
ExtraTorrent is one of the top torrent distribution websites with very high traffic from the US and other parts of the world. Soon after the closure of major trusted torrent sites, users searched alternatives solutions and one of them was ExtraTorrent. Thus the website reached the highest ranking in Alexa (237) reaching approximately 170 million visitors per month.
After the recent "download" of Kickass Torrents and TorrentHound, the decision to come out offline ExtraTorrent is not surprising, since it is likely to be the next target of copyright holders.
Thus, three of the domain names used by the site, (ETproxy.top, ExtraTorrent.rocks and ExtraTorrent.date), which functioned as mirrors of ExtreTorrent, do not work, as reported by TorrentFreak.
The domain registrar, Subreg.cz, said that the domains were not blocked, but admitted that there are permanent protests, which may have led to the stopping of the popular tracker.
ExtaTorrent currently has new mirror domains ready to replace old addresses. Backup of the page can be found at ExtraTorrent.site and Extra.to.
It is worth noting that one of the main domains of ExtraTorrent.cc is fully accessible at this time.
