The Facebook featured a new feature that allows users to share what they are watching or listening without having to type or say a word.
On Wednesday, May 21, the webσελίδα announced a new system recognitions audio to be integrated into application για κινητά μέσα στις επόμενες εβδομάδες. Η εφαρμογή θα χρησιμοποιεί το μικρόφωνο του smartphone to hear what songs, TV shows or movies the user is listening to or watching. The feature will recognize sounds – kind of like the popular app Shazam – and then give users the ability to share it on their timeline
When you have the feature enabled, a small icon will appear on your screen when you try to post something new. You will then be able to choose to share or ignore this feature.
If you choose to share the song you're listening at, for example, your friends will see a 30 seconds preview of the song you're listening, along with a link that will lead to Rdio, Spotify or Deezer. For TV shows, the sound recognition system will be able to publish the episode and broadcast time for your friends to know about it.
As Verge notes, it is not known if Facebook's new feature exceeds Shazam's ability to recognize songs through environmental noises.
We'll probably find out soon as Facebook says it's rolling out the new feature – for devices Android and iOS in the United States – in the coming weeks.
