Facebook downvote and upvote: Earlier this year, Facebook confirmed that it was testing upvote and downvote buttons, like the ones used by Reddit, with the aim of improving speech quality on the platform.
As of today, the new feature appears to have been released to a larger number of users.
With the downvote button, Facebook is essentially showing that it trusts its users, or at least testing it with some of them before releasing it publicly. The social network he hopes they'll use it to flag what Facebook considers "bad comments," which it defines as comments with "bad intentions or disrespect."
The larger social network points out that this is not a rival but we believe it will almost certainly be used in that way.
Let's say that the specific feature that Facebook has chosen and is optimistic to go well has been around for quite some time at Reddit. Downvote is often used as a sign of a dispute or confrontation.
Facebook probably wants to change this mindset, which will not be that easy. Of course we should not forget the trolls, who will be celebrating the ability of Facebook downvote.
The feature is not currently visible to all social network users. Of those Twitter messages, those with access to the new upvote and downvote feature appear to be in Australia and New Zealand.
