In his opening remarks at Facebook F8 Developer Conference today, Mark Zuckerberg announced Messenger Business, a new way for Facebook users to communicate with businesses directly from within the Messenger app.
The feature is part of the launch of the new Messenger platform, which will open its API to third-party developers.
Now, companies will be able to integrate Facebook's Messenger as a way of providing services to customers looking for online information, or some clarification.
Facebook users will also be able to make their purchases directly through Messenger, using the live support platform by chatting with businesses. Because the Messenger account is already linked to a Facebook account, the identity is already verified (although we assume more should be needed data to approve purchases and returns).
It is still not clear according to TNW whether the Messenger Business will come with Facebook's built-in payment feature launched last week.
Facebook says Messenger Business will only be released to start for a few companies without specifying when everyone will have access to the new service.
