Facebook has started distributing a tool security as an addition to what is already in your account. So over the next few weeks (probably starting today), you'll start seeing a little line at the top of your feed asking you to go through a three-step process. If you want to have immediate access, you can do from here.
The social network states:
Security Scan is a quick way to review and add more security information to your account. You must log in to your Facebook account to start the Security Check.
The Security Checker will help you do the following:
-
Receive notifications connections that let you know if someone tries to log into your account from a new computer or phone
-
Learn how to protect your password
Note: This feature is available for users connected to Facebook from a computer.
The first stage of Security Testing tells you how to connect from any device you have not used for a while.
Facebook will show you how to set up alerts so that whenever your account connects to a new device, receive an email or a notification to Facebok.
The final stage of the process will show you how to create a powerful password.
The new feature is available only for computers at the moment, but with so much traffic from mobile devices, the social network should also be available soon for smartphones.
