A former Facebook employee has sued the company and claims her work caused post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to Motherboard.
Selena Scola used to work as an external contributor to Facebook through a company called Pro Unlimited. Selena's job was to identify and remove content from the larger social network that violated community standards, eg hate speech, images of violence, self-harm, bullying, nudity and sexual content.
According to the lawyersconditions of Scola, their client developed PTSD due to "constant and indiscriminate exposure to extremely toxic and extremely horrific images in the workplace." They also claim that Facebook does not have the proper mental health services to monitor its employees.
On the other hand, Facebook said in the Motherboard that it provides mental health services to its employees. He also stated that he also provides educational procedures for mental well-being.
It will be interesting to see how this case will proceed, as it could have wider implications on Companies που απαιτούν παρόμοιες εργασίες από τα στελέχη τους. Το Facebook διαθέτει σήμερα περίπου 7.500 ανθρώπους που εργάζονται μόνο για να εντοπίσουν και να αφαιρέσουν κάθε απαράδεκτο περιεχόμενο. Σύμφωνα με το Moneycontrol, αυτός ο αριθμός αναμένεται να αυξηθεί στα 20.000 άτομα με εργαζόμενους από την India which will have annual earnings from 3.100 to 5.500 dollars.
