The Facebook, Messenger and Instagram are being retired from Windows Phones on April 30th.
Facebook is saying goodbye to its family of apps for Windows Phone, including Messenger, Instagram, and the original Facebook app. In fact, Facebook will end support for its Windows Mobile apps as of April 30. The users of Windows Phone, if they want to have support and updates, they will have to resort to accessing Facebook or Instagram through the proletterbrowsing their phone.
The upcoming withdrawal was first observed this weekend at Instagram. Windows Phone users they told Reddit that they received a notice telling them that Instagram would withdraw its application on 30 April. Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are among the top free apps in the Microsoft Store, but it's not clear how many active users will be affected.
Also, the withdrawal of Facebook should not surprise Windows Phone users as they hold onto a device at the end of it. Microsoft has already announced that it is withdrawing its interest in mobile phones.
Of course there are still a few Windows Phone users clinging to their increasingly inactive devices. Those users who still use Windows Phone in the year 2019 do so for a variety of reasons: some prefer their device's camera, others distrust expensive Apple, and others its privacy stories Google. And some may not want to learn how to operate a new device with software other than what they know.
