The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) μόλις ολοκλήρωσε μια έρευνα για ένα νέο Οργουελικό πρόγραμμα του FBI. Το πρόγραμμα του FBI σε cooperation με ερευνητές της κυβέρνησης αποσκοπεί στη δημιουργία ενός προηγμένου λογισμικού recognitionof images with the intention of recording our tattoos in an attempt to determine to which they belong: "gangs, sub-cultures, religions or rituals, or political ideology."
The project launched in 2014 as an initiative of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), it tries to map "connections between people with similar tattoo themes or draw inferences about people from their tattoos."
Besides, of course, on various issues of freedom of speech, there may be significant moral concerns about the ambitious FBI project.
But with the EFF and NIST documents the researchers could not find out if the tattoos were used for additional experiments with prisoners and arrested.
Still, they continue to watch very closely the FBI project, which does not seem to want to suspend the program.
