Fedora developers have announced the release of Fedora 38. The new version comes with the desktop GNOME 44 in the Workstation version of the project.
Distribution now introduces shorter timeout delays when terminating services, which makes it faster to shut down or restart the system.
The DNF5 package manager comes as a preview of the new technology and users are encouraged to try it out and report their experiences.
“Fedora Workstation focuses on its experience surfaceof work. As usual, Fedora Workstation comes with the latest version of GNOME. GNOME 44 includes many great improvements, including a new screen lock, a 'background apps' section in the quick menu and improvements to accessibility settings.
Additionally, enabling third-party repositories allows apps to be viewed on Flathub.
With this release, we have shortened the default timeout when terminating services. This will help your system shut down faster – important when you need to grab your laptop and leave.
