FinalSpark rents out its organic bioreactors for research

The Swiss company FinalSpark behind the Neuroplatform project offers paid remote access to its bioprocessors.

These innovative processors are based on human brain organoids and according to the company have millions of times more power efficiency compared to digital processors.

Now its academic customers can access this biocomputing platform, with four organoids, for $500 per user per month (or even free, for select projects) to conduct remote biocomputing research from their office.

On its website, the company states: that tenants will have:

  • Integrated R&D environment for biocomputing research
  • Neural stimulation and real-time reading
  • Programming API for Python
  • Digital notebook for documentation and research
  • Data storage and backup
  • Technical support

The Neuroplatform project is the first online platform in the world to provide access to biological neurons in vitro. The neuron-filled organelles are capable of learning and processing with remarkable efficiency.

FinalSpark hopes that the adoption of bioprocessors based on biological neurons rather than transistors could make a significant difference to the incredible energy expenditure we often hear about in the tech world. Saving billions of watts during LLM education or other intensive work is bad for the environment.
